Well, first off, after having my left wrist sprained and fractured, and experiencing many of the same symptoms, it's a good possibility that my RSD has spread yet again. My pain management specialist *who is AMAZING* wants to wait until after the alloted time frame for a fracture to heal before doing any kind of test to see if it spread. She has already declared that my right hand/arm are a lost cause, treatment wise, besides medication. But we will be discussing a new treatment for my leg, that would put a device into my back to block some-most of the 'pain' nerve signals. I will have to look into that more and discuss it with my RSD support group *Again AMAZING!!!!!* We did increase the Neurontin (Gabapentin) which is for nerve pain to see if I get any relief.
Then we come down to deciding what to do with Braeden's escalating aggression, fits, and so on that are not responding to treatments. I had my hopes dashed after hearing about a grant that would provide an intensive behavioral therapy - 5hrs a day/25hrs a week - for 6 months. I was so looking forward to having not only the break but to finally be getting help in the areas we needed. Now he definitely qualifies for this grant...but *and there's always a but...* there is a 1-2 year waitlist for the grant. So, in the meantime, he only qualifies for *meaning insurance/program will only pay for* 2 1/2 hours per MONTH of behavioral therapy. And, to help curb his mood swings, I would have to put him on a mood stabilizing drug. I already took him off the ADHD medicine because it messes up his heart, and that was the only non-stimulant medicine he could take because he's so small for his age. I have to put into place an 'Emergency Psychiatric Plan' for when he gets violent/out of control...or the doctors are going to place a 48hr psych hold on him in the Pedi Psych Ward...and from there decide if he's safe to return home or if he needs inpatient stay of anywhere from 1 week - month. This is all because he 'assaulted' his doctor (med student/resident) *who deserved it for not listening to me or reading his cues that he was severely overstimulated* on Tuesday and left bruises all over her throat/chest/shoulders. Now I've been anti-med, any alternative treatment kind of mom and now, for his safety and those around him, I have to put him on some pretty heavy psych meds.
